It all ends April 23rd, 2018.

“Mommy, does it say anywhere in the Bible that the world will end in April?”

Someone I know was asked this question quite recently.

Her and I were both stunned.

Unsure of where the question came from.

Until I read an article on the Internet a few days later.

If you are reading this article then…Ā Wait a minute!Ā

Theoretically, the greatest time difference between countries should be 24h, but in truth, it is closer to 26h. It is because of International Date Line being more of a zigzag than a straight line. The observance of Daylight Saving also adds to the time difference between the most “East” and most “West” points. For example at the time of me writing this post the time on Baker Island (US) is 6:48 am on a Sunday, whereas the time on Line Islands (Kiribati) is 8:48 am on a Monday.Ā

If you’re a visual person, you might want to take a look at the interactive zone map I came across while researching this stuff. To see the time difference between the Baker Island and other places around the world, in a numerical form, click here.

And a quote from Wikipedia, which I found interesting:

For the two hours between 10:00 and 11:59Ā UTCĀ each day, three different calendar dates are observed at the same time in different places on Earth. For example, at 10:15 UTC Thursday, it is 23:15 Wednesday in American Samoa (UTCāˆ’11), Thursday in most of the world, and 00:15 Friday inĀ KiritimatiĀ (UTC+14).

During the first hour (UTC 10:00ā€“10:59), all three calendar dates include inhabited places. During the second hour (UTC 11:00ā€“11:59) one of the calendar dates is limited to an uninhabited maritime time zone twelve hours behind UTC (UTCāˆ’12).

According to the clock, the first areas to experience a new day and aĀ New YearĀ are islands that use UTC+14. These include portions of theĀ Republic of Kiribati, includingĀ Millennium IslandĀ in theĀ Line Islands, as well as Samoa during the southern summer. The first major cities to experience a new day areĀ AucklandĀ andĀ Wellington, New Zealand (UTC+12;Ā UTC+13Ā with daylight saving time).

How is all of the above related to this post? Well, the world is coming to an end on April 23rd, 2018. And as I started writing this post, I wondered if you would read my post on April 22nd (publishing date), or maybe April 23rd. And then I realized that when this will be posted, people from different countries will be seeing different dates on their calendar. And since my research (shown above) illustrates that there is potentially a 26h difference between some places on the Earth, I wonder which country’s April 23rd will be the correct one.Ā Let me know if you have the answer.

Now back to where I started.

I write this post fully aware that this post might not ever make it. The world might end before it is time to publish this post. I am fully aware that my post might be the last thing you will ever read. I hope it will be worth it.

If you are reading this on April 24th (or later), make sure that no place in the world still has April 23rd on their calendar, in which case, you should assume you are safe.

Until the next time the world is supposed to be ending.

There are actually two reasons why the world is scheduled to end on April 23rd. The first one is related to the Book of Revelations in the Bible.Ā Aha! Now I know why the girl asked her mother about the Bible predicting the end of the world in April.Ā

ā€œAnd a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of 12 stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth.ā€ –Ā Revelation 12:1-2

The Virgo constellation is said to be the “woman”. On April 23rd, the sun and the moon will be in Virgo. The Messiah is going to be represented by Jupiter, which will also be in Virgo.

ā€œDuring this time frame, on April 23,Ā 2018Ā the moon appears under the feet of the Constellation Virgo. The Sun appears to precisely clothe Virgoā€¦ Jupiter is birthed on April 08, 2018. The 12 stars at that date include the nine stars of Leo, and the three planetary alignments of Mercury, Venus and Mars ā€“ which combine to make a count of 12 stars on the head of Virgo. Thus the constellations Virgo, Leo and Serpens-Ophiuchus represent a unique once-in-a-century sign exactly as depicted in the 12th chapter of Revelation. This is our time marker.ā€ –Ā David Meade

It would almost be uncanny, IF this alignment did not occur every 12 years. However, this time it IS supposed to be real, because some other planets will align as well, forming a “Lion of the tribe of Judah”.

Planet X, or Nibiru, is the second reason for why the end might be near. The planet is to be on a collision course with Earth. Some believe that Elon Musk’s rocket is supposed to help destroy Nibiru, but NASA denies the existence of the elusive planet. It is possible that there is a planet to be discovered, which would be named Planet X, but so far, as we know it, it does not exist.Ā The night of April 23rd, Planet X is said to appear in the sky, and cause World War III, the rise of Antichrist and begin the seven year of tribulation.

I found a list of predictions regarding the end of the world (in the past as well as in the future) very interesting. Take a look. It seems like we have been awaiting “the end” since a long, long time ago. However, predictions of the end of times are being made more and more often as time passes by. What does that mean?

All of this caused me to think about why we are so eager to see the end of times. I, for one, am a curious person, and because of that, I would not mind seeing the end of the world. It would mean that I have seen it all. It surely would be fascinating to see how it all really unravels. I hope it would also provide answers to some of our more difficult questions.

But why do people keep predicting the doomsday? Some might do it to instill fear. People fear death. People fear the end of the world. Fear is a great motivator. Some people want to capitalize on their predictions, and so they sell merchandise. Some create new religions. Most of us (if not all) would like to be famous. We like being right. And the best way to achieve both (and potentially a lot of wealth), is to predict the end of the world (correctly).

What do you think is the reason why we keep coming up with “end of the world” dates?

I am expecting a hell of a week ahead, so I would not mind this prediction coming true. How about you? Would you mind if the world was coming to an end any minute now?

Let me know what date it is today for you as you are reading this.

Stay golden,

  1. The are so many aspects of the bible that are open to interpretation (hence various religious groups, each of them purporting to be the only true religion) that I see no credibility in general to those projections. If I contemplate the language of the original texts for the bible; the pressure to translate in accordance with ones church’s wishes (assuming you valued your life); the idiomatic expressions and colloquialisms of ancient times … it would seem to be rather narrow thinking to just assume that a biblical translation can taken so literally. My belief is that God gave us a fully functional brain to go along with the rest of our body, and that brain has the ability to rationalize what are valid teachings and what are not.
Will the world end on April 23? That probably depends more on Donald Trump than a biblical based prediction … but my guess is no! šŸ™‚

    1. You bring up a great point – translation. Languages evolve throughout time. Not everything said then means the same now.
If one tries, I’m sure one can bend the scriptures into whatever they want.
It’s the 23rd. I woke up. I am grateful. Looks just like any other day so far.

  2. You included lots of interesting facts and context to the issue. Thanks for the link to the time zone map. I’m reading your piece at 5:56 pm Sunday night, 4/22, so the answer to the question is still pending.

Hopefully I’ll be checking back later.

  3. Reading this on 23rd of April. 7.18 am ( to be precise). Very interesting and informative. I’ll also like to add some of my views. I grew up learning about bible and Jesus. In the bible its written even God Himself, doesn’t know the exact hour or day or time for the end. Second coming will surely take place but the exact prediction I think no one can do that except the Sovereign God who will carry out His perfect will at His perfect time. And I think this is not the first time even in the past we have heard of many such instances where people predicts the ‘end of the world” . I remember once in the year 2012 they predicted the end on 22nd December , that time I was quite Young to believe it to be true. There were news flashing everywhere, and i was having my end semester exam, many of ud panicked so much that we couldn’t even prepare for our exam well, it was silly we were even bidding goodbyes and all, haha..but nothing happened.Sometimes as a finite human beings it’s not possible to comprehend what out Infinite God has in mind and i guess it’s best to leave it that way ā˜ŗļø
Also I don’t fear death anymore, because Even if my physical being is no more I kMow I am going to be eternally alive with the Lord so that’s even more beautiful hope that I have.ā˜ŗļø

    1. What a beautifully worded comment. Thank you.
And I agree with you. Even though I do think the world is coming to an end (so many terrible things happening), but we won’t know until it actually happens.
Interesting story about you preparing for the end of the world in 2012. I remember that 2000 was supposed to be the end (the new millennium) and I remember the electricity switching off during our New Year’s celebrations. It was a bit scary.

      1. Haha I can imagin the tensed hour that you all might have gone through, ‘the electricity switching off’..
Well, it all seem like a funny memory now when we look back how we responded to those prediction with fear laced with curiosity. But glad we are still very much alive ā˜ŗļø and may be life has more surprises to bring in days to come , till then stay happy and awesome ā˜ŗļøšŸ’• and it was a very interesting read. Thank-you.

  4. Its April 23rd, 2.11pm, overcast so if things do appear in the sky I wont see them.
If the world was to end, what a disappointment, I was just starting to enjoy the experience of being where I am. If it was to end then what next? Do we all disintegrate into a pool of atomic particles and float about the universe, is that to be our eternity or do we cease to exist, that option I also find disappointing as I’m hoping there’s more this.
I’ll have to wait until tomorrow when the rest of the world catches up with us.Fingers crossed. Seriously though I often wonder what the purpose of the world ending might be, or is it a biblical thing designed to keep us all in line.

    1. Ha! I was thinking that it might happen on the 23rd in the East (you) and we might be caught by surprise here (West) on the 22nd. And you seem to think that you need to wait “to catch up”. Well not really, but I found it somewhat interesting how we expect major things to happen away from our place.

Indeed. Like any funeral, such “end” predictions cause us to stop and think over our lives. And what’s “next” is definitely a mystery we probably will never find an answer to.

The world has “ended” so many times in the past several years, that I wonder about the purpose of such predictions as well. By now we are all numbed. It does not phase us as much. Is that the reason? To lull us to sleep so when it actually does come we will not be expecting it?

A really interesting post. We can just wait and watch what happens and maybe discuss on it few days later? (I am pretty sure we are going to survive) ā˜ŗļø

  6. They keep giving me false hopes with these predictions.
I am also awaiting a hell of a week. So, no. I wouldn’t mind.

But whenever I say this, people think I’m depressed.
I am not. I am enjoying the small things in life a lot. But the bigger picture isn’t at all where I want to be. I am trying to change, but sometimes it’s not only up to me šŸ˜‰

It’s the 23-04. I woke up extremely dizzy and didn’t to drive to work.
    Is this a sign? šŸ˜€

    1. As the world ends later today I will remember that Andrea knew it as soon as she woke up.

I totally get it. It’s not about being depressed. It’s about not really being into what lays ahead. And that’s ok. Also, I think it’s important to a human’s mental well being to be… not ok, but ok with death. I mean, of course it’s the unknown and we are terrified of that. And we are terrified of not fulfilling our lives, but being overly scared of death can do a major number on you. (This turned a bit grim. My apologies. I had a thought that I followed, but I couldn’t express it well.)

If we go down, we should go all down together (Billy Joel – Goodnight Saigon reference)

        Agreed. I understand what you’re saying šŸ˜‰
I am just a little scared of the future. If it continues like this, I will get very very tired of life. Both Mentally and Physical.
TBH with you, all I want is lay down in bed the entire day. That’s not a good sign

        Liked by 1 person

        1. I’m right there with you on the whole lay in bed all day. But I don’t see it as a bad thing necessarily. I’ve always been an avid sleeper.

Whatever it is, I do hope you feel better soon enough.

So we’ve survived another end of the world. Maybe it’s a sign. A sign that whatever life throws at us, we can still beat it. Even if we feel like it’s the end. But yea, I’m disappointed in a way.

3rd/ I’ve actually searched for “the Apocalypse ” according to the religious texts and science , I’ve spent 3 years searching and what I’ve found is in that book.
4th/ i’m not worried about the end of the world now because is it’s not what science and God say

  8. Everyone’s perception of the world is different, so I think the ‘end of the world’ is more to do with personal circumstance than with time. For a person who dies today, it will certainly be the end of their world as they currently know it. For a person undergoing a dramatic life change, their world as they currently perceive it may end as well. Personally, I don’t believe in this sort of generic prediction unless it’s based on some scientifically calculated fact, so I’m pretty sure that most of us will still be perceiving our own little worlds in the days to come!

    1. That’s a great angle to the topic. Our deaths are our own ends of the world.
Definitely a thought provoking comment. I for once and at the moment very wrapped up in my own little world.

  9. To be honest. I donā€™t think the world will end for a good few millions of years. Well I hope not either. I want the chance for everyone to grow up with an amazing future. I want our generation and the younger generations to live and see the world how it is, but not let that get in the way and have the best in life. I read this at 21:20 23rd April.

I think you’re right. There’s a long way to go. Life is precious and we should live it to the fullest. I just hope humans won’t destroy the planet.

      1. Thereā€™s a lot of arguments between Donald Trump and the South Korean President. And with Britain, France and Us attacking Syria. And the Russia threatening with nuclear bombs in Britain the other day. I think itā€™s just people just trying to scare us and making us feel uncomfortable and panicked. It wonā€™t happen I donā€™t think. Everyone is equal as anything. Either way the world wonā€™t happen for millions of years yet

  10. Hey, the world didn’t end! I remember when I first heard about 2012 and Nibiru and all that. I was young then and was afraid that the world would actually end. I read articles about it constantly and wondered what would happen next? Was there an afterlife? Then the supposed date passed and I was so relieved! There have been so many predictions of apocalypse I can’t take it seriously. The world probably will end at some point but not for a long time. Even if it did end sooner it’d probably be by nuclear apocalypse or global warming than the planets aligning! I want to enjoy life, not ponder if the world will end.

Iā€™ve never heard of this doomsday prediction, but Iā€™ve heard about Nibiru. I donā€™t know what to believe though. One thing is for sure, if global warming will continue to get worse then the world is going to end sooner or later.

  12. I’m reading this on Wednesday, 4/25/18 in Tennessee in the USA, so welcome to the first day of the rest of your non-end times-curtailed life. You can thank your follower Britchy from Bitchininthekitchen for recommending your blog.

I am fascinated and amused by the history of end times predictions and recently read a mediocre book on the subject. If you’re interested, you can see what I thought about it at
    https://theceaselessreaderwrites.wordpress.com/2018/01/16/brief-book-review/

As to why people make such predictions, the reasons vary. Some are convicted by sincere religious belief. Some use it as a way to make money or gain followers. I suspect some, possibly many, suffer from mental illness.

The American bluegrass/country trio Nickel Creek has an awesome song about Harold Camping’s failed end times predictions called “The 21st of May”. I encourage you to look it up on Youtube.

Take care, be well, and happy blogging!

Britchy surely is one of a kind. I’m glad that she was able to connect us.

Thanks for sharing the doomsday tune with me. It really fits perfectly. I like how the beat is so nonchalant.

Interesting take regarding the “mental illness” of those who come up with those dates. I never really thought of it that way, because I presume these people should be very sharp, intelligent and charismatic to gain a following.

I surely will give your review/blog a look in a little while.

  13. Heh. Reading this on the 25th; so, I think it’s safe to say the world IS ending… Just not any time soon.

Personally, I think people just want something to look forward to. Once upon a time, people could just look across the sea and find something unknown. Nowadays, there are no nameless seas, no unexplored pieces of land. And life is pretty monotonous. But, the end of the world? Aliens? Time travel? Now THAT would be new, THAT would be interesting… If only for a little while.

  14. It is April 27th today and I am still here so I guess we’ll wait till next year for another prediction. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

I haven’t gotten a job or earned wages and if the world had ended I would have spent my entire life going to school and cooking soup. What a wasted life that would have beenšŸ˜ thankGod!

I don’t think anyone can predict the end. If anything, I think this is what happens every time there’s a prediction.

God: Angels! ready your trumpet April 23rd is the day!

One bored inhabitant of earth: I have predicted the end. April 23rd is the day!

God: phew! Angels drop your trumpets until further notice.

Angel Columbus: Earthlings again! Why do they always do thisšŸ˜

So whenever there’s a prediction I just know that date has been cancelled in heaven.
HE WILL COME LIKE A THIEF IN THE NIGHT.
