CW: Sweet mystery.

“Sweet mystery.”
– a prompt for this week’s CW piece.
[Source: RandomnessInked]

I stand
on the brink of change.
Staring
into the distance.
Thinking
of what lays ahead.

Is there a way to know?
A way to find out what comes next?
To predict the outcome?

My legs are wobbly.
My mouth is dry.
My palms are sweating.
My heart is pounding.
My ears are ringing.

They say
I am making a mistake.
They say
I will regret it.

Those
who are meant to support me
are tearing me down.
Alone is how I feel.
Doubters I do not need.

My eyes are wide open.
I listen to you.
I hear you.
But I will choose
my own path.

I can either stand here
and wait
for an earthquake
to move me,
or I can
make a step forward
all by myself.

Life is a mystery
only we can solve.

We are our own detectives.

(I am not sure how I feel about this piece. I think it started strong, but then it turned into a rather random freestyle. And the ending. I really like it, but I did not know how to cohesively add it to the poem. Let me know what you think about all this.)ย

  1. Okay, this is crazy. I’ve been processing these same things, about doing things for yourself, and taking that step that might seem insane. It’s such a fitting poem to go with my thoughts, so thanks for reading my mind ๐Ÿ˜€ (And I think that’s the good thing about poetry – it can go anywhere you need it to go. I love this poem.) โค Amazing!!

  2. I could personally connect it with my current situation.. I don’t know if that’s coincidence. ๐Ÿ˜€ Love those lines “I can either stand here and wiat for an earthquake to move me or I can make a step forward all by myself”.
It’s a very good piece , would like to share with my Friends if you allow.

    1. I’d be flattered if you shared it. Of course, I would kindly ask you to attribute it to me.

Thank you for sharing your favorite lines. I really like these, too.

And I’m glad people can relate to it. I hope you figure your situation out soon enough. Best of luck.
