Another day, another post, another blog.
Is that what our life is all about? Doing the same things over and over again until we die? What a grim perspective. Let me know in the comments how you feel about various routines in your life.
This challenge is sponsored by no other than:
Thank you for saving me from nothingness.

Today’s quote comes from a British scholar – Benjamin Jowett.
Never retreat. Never explain. Get it done and let them howl.
To me this is about determination. About never letting go.
Life has the ability to knock us down, and then kick us while we are already on the ground. It is not a fun thing. Often times it makes us want to curl up into a fetal position and stay that way until someone comes and lifts us up, and takes us to a safe place, where there is no hurt.
Some people give up once things start going wrong, but I see it just as a challenge. A challenge to do better. To prove it/ them wrong. Life can knock me around, but I will rest for a moment, and then take another swing at it.
People can be evil. They build themselves up by knocking you down. Such people are very insecure. It gives me immense pleasure to succeed, when they expect me to fail. I do not shy away from a challenge. I do not explain myself to them. I do not tell them what I am doing and why. But I am plowing right ahead. And when they see the headlights of me coming, it will be too late. They will howl in disbelief, self-pity and doubt.
*Britchy’s challenge had a “The Power Of One by Bryce Courtenay” theme. I believe my quote satisfies that requirement, because it is all about moving yourself forward. It is about focusing on yourself, not others. Am I right?
Stay golden,
.

Instead of “you had me at hello!” I wanna say… you had me at the “nothingness”… great post… We should all fight the nothing in our own lives!

Yup! I like this quote, if you don’t push past others protests you’d never get anything done so let them howl is very true!

They’re just roadblocks. We should just detour. … Or run them over.

Or detour TO run them over. Leave no roadblock unturned 😊

I like your way of thinking. I think and feel the same. I will not be kept down, and when I am down, I’ll be back up again real soon.

I think we differ here.
I give up on people very easily.
There’s a lot I can handle (nowadays). But one asshole move is one too many.
I’m not very forgiving.
As for work, I’m only not giving up if it’s worth it, if I’m going to get something out of it.
Otherwise I’d give up on that and search for something better.
That’s often a good revenge too.
As for routine, I think that’s something we (regular people) cannot avoid.
I choose a job where I travel quite a bit, so I do get the chance to sleep in different hotels, meet more people from different cultures and eat in restaurants.
I got what I wanted, but I don’t want it anymore.

Regarding the first part of your comment – I went and re-read my post, and I’m not sure which part you’re referring to. I said people are mean, and that I don’t care, I just do my own thing. It had nothing to do with forgiving people. Did we misunderstand each other?
Ooooh, I think I understand now what you mean. I didn’t think in terms of people. I was thinking of my own goals/ achievements. Not people, really.
You’re right. Even though we do similar things every day, they are different, and they all have a reason. But some people do try and argue with me that I should just leave it all (the routine).

Oh these blogs and misunderstandings.
Although I have been using English for a long time for business purposes, I have never used it much to express feelings or thoughts.
So that might be my “fault”.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like you maybe want to prove people wrong?
I used to be like that a lot (I’m speaking work / educational wise). Now, if an asshole tells me to “prove them I’m worth it”, it’s bye bye. I will be searching for another job.
Leave it all? And do what?
Even traveling and meeting new people will become a routine.

It has nothing to do with English. Sometimes different things mean different things to different people. We tend to interpret things based on what we are currently thinking.
Yes, I totally want to prove people wrong. But it’s not when they say: “prove it”. More like when they say: “You can’t”, or even “No one can”. I totally get what you’re saying. I’m like this is specific situations, not whenever THEY want me to.
You nailed it. Everything becomes a routine. Just because you travel to a different country every week does not mean you’re still doing the same thing.
