Award Ceremony – July 2018.

*NOMINATION NO. 1, 2 and 3*

(See page 1 for thanks and intro.)

FROM: My Dusty Flip-Flops, who shares her travelling experiences with her audiences. Not only with words, but also with stunning photographs. I always feel like I am right there with her. However far that dream destination might be. Real, human reviews, with a lot of soul.

FROM: Andrea (times two), who is a doodler. But not only. She shares her experiences with us in a personalized, relatable way. There is a lot of humor in her posts, but also some great information on various topics, such as OCD.

Dusty Flip-Flops’ QUESTIONS and MY ANSWERS:

What do you like the most about blogging?
I like that it reminds me not to give up on my creativity; that it opens the doors for my work to get “out there”; that I get to meet like-minded people.

What do you like the least about blogging?
Interesting question. I have to say that the thing I am not a fan of (but am) is the amount of other bloggers. I feel so small in the ocean of writers. And the second part of this answer is – fake people. I do not want this to turn negative, so I will not elaborate. You have your reasons for acting the way you do. Kudos to you, but I am not a fan.

Do you have a favorite artist or painting?
I do not do favorites, but I am quite fond of Monet’s work.

If you could only travel to one more place in the world, where would that be?
A few months ago it would have been Australia without a second thought. I am not SO happy to say that is off my list. I went, I saw, I conquered. I would LOVE to go again for longer, but that will be after I see some places I have not been to before. My next destination is South America. I’m not set on a specific country, but Peru, Chile and Brazil are all great contenders.

What is your favorite TV show that you are watching at the moment?
Most of the shows are on a summer break, so I am resting for now (TV show watching wise).

What was the last film you watched that made you laugh out loud?
That is a great problem for me. I do not think they make such movies anymore. Deadpool was pretty funny, though. Deadpool 2 was not bad, either.

What do you hope to achieve with your blog?
Success. But what that means, I am unsure of as of yet. On a basic level, I would like to just keep expressing myself and crafting my writing craft. However, on a deeper, more selfish level, I would like to take it “to the next level”.

Sunseeker or adrenaline junkie?
A bit of both, but I am more of an adrenaline junkie, and I do not seek out sun too much.

Sweet or savory?
I used to be all about sweet. In recent years, I have become more of a savory person.

Do you like airplane food?
From the foodie perspective – no. However, some airlines have better food than others.

Is there one blog that has inspired you above all others?
No one in particular. However, individual posts do inspire me every now and then. In various ways.

  1. What is one thing you can’t live without?
    my computer
  2. Are you a dog or cat person?
  3. Who is your favorite person(s)?
I have a few (half friends, half family).
  4. Why did you start your blog?
My creativity was dead. I had to give it mouth to mouth.
  5. Who is/are your favorite musicians?
    Do not have a fav.
  6. Do you have any tattoos? If so what are they and what do they mean to you? If not, would you ever get one? What would it be and why?
Do not have any. Every now and again, I consider it, but I never get any, because I do not have a strong enough idea for the tattoo.
  7. What keeps you motivated?
    Deadlines. And myself.
  8. How do you take your coffee/tea?
Tea, with a few drops of lemon and some sugar. Coffee, black, with sugar.
  9. What’s your favorite television show at the moment?
    Do not have any.
  10. If you could learn how to play an instrument which one would it be?
Guitar. Because I always wanted. Maybe a harp, not that I think about it.
  11. What is one of your biggest goals?
To die without any regrets. To be happy.

  1. Describe your day?
It has been a rather boring day so far. It is Tuesday. Just before noon. So I got up, made some tea, prepped lunch, took a shower, drove to work, did some work, realized there is so much blogging to be done (awards!), and that is where we are.
  2. Who was the last person you texted and what was it about?
My partner. Just a check in.
  3. What do you like best about yourself?
I will put my modesty aside, and say plenty of things. I appreciate that I am always on time. I can be objective. I do not loose my cool too easily (anymore), etc.
  4. What do you like least about yourself?
I still want to save the world. Against other people’s will.
  5. What calms you down?
Good music. Nature walks. Travelling. A good book. Herbal tea.
  6. What is your one big advice to a new blogger and one who has been doing it for a while?
For new bloggers – figure out why you REALLY want to blog. If it is for instant fame, you might want to brace yourself. It can be a bumpy ride, and most bloggers do not make the 1 year mark.
For established bloggers – rehash your priorities. Remind yourself what your goals and objectives are. You probably encountered some negative feedback by now. It is up to you how you take it and if that blocks your rode to success, or not.
  7. What is your favorite vacation destination?
Anywhere peaceful and quiet. Water is a plus.
  8. What do you eat for breakfast?
Depends how much time I have. Cereal. Toast. Eggs.
  9. Do you have any flower / plants in your home?
    Ha! I currently do not.
  10. Do you do dishes manually or do you use the dishwasher?
Manually. Although, when I have a lot more dishes than normal (once a month), I run the dishwasher to keep it lubricated, so it does not fall apart.

      1. Hahahahahah, why thank you for the vote of confidence. I have no idea how. Honestly it wasn’t until I caught up on your recent posts that I saw that. Seriously, congratulations. I don’t know if my blog is good enough.

Then again, I don’t know what the benefit of the awards are. Is it just a good job kind of thing, or do you get publicity or something else?

  1. Was waiting for this one, including my nomination 😉
Although I really like this, I’m almost scared to write one because each time I do ’em, someone ends up frustrated.
Especially looking at the questions, you can expect some bold statements from me 😉

You have mentioned before that you have seen quite a lot of the world.
Do you usually go for one long vacation, or few a year but shorter?
