IMPACT:

Applying to Uni was a stressful time. I was always a good/ decent student, but being put against other good (and better) students from other schools all over the country left me slightly self-conscious.

When I got rejected, I was devastated. Really for the first time in my life I was told I was not good enough. At that time, it felt like my whole future went down the drain.

On a whim, I applied to a different school and got in! Maybe there was hope for me after-all?! In retrospect, that “failure” shaped my current life. Of course, I do not know what would have happened had I gotten in to my initially chosen Uni, but because I am a firm believer in “everything happens for a reason”, I am glad that I did not get in.

Uni A was located in my city. Uni B was not. That prepared me for an adult life. I would not have learned how to fend for myself had I lived at home during those Uni days. Who knows, maybe I would STILL live there. I learned so many life skills that I would have missed out on otherwise. Because of living on my own, I got to experience the fun parts, too. I got to meet some great people. Some who are still in my life to this day.

Sometimes bad things are good things in disguise.
