CW: Sheep in the sky

It was a beautiful August day.

Sunshine and blue skies.

A Saturday.

Time to relax and enjoy the moment.

Mary and Hans laid on a blanket,

surrounded by tall grass of a meadow.

The slight wind played each blade of grass

like a harp.

That faint whisper,

combined with the joyful song of birds

was music to anyone that heard it.

“I love just looking at the endless sky.”

“It’s so full of hope.”

“And the clouds…”

“Sheep of the sky…”

They closed their eyes

to engage their other senses.

The singing grass lulled them to sleep,

while the warm breeze swaddled them.

“I wonder where you are.”

“I will see you one day.”

They opened their eyes,

and returned home still looking at the sky.

This is a bit different of a CW piece. No official prompt. I just found a note I wrote years ago. A scribble. An idea. Of two people seemingly together yet apart.

Thoughts?

      1. My pleasure.
Yes I did. Thank you. Well, there is nothing in particular that made me change it but I guess, sometimes, you change things not because they should change but because a change would be good.

  1. Sheep in the sky. Lovely title.

I looked through your post where you summed up all your posts of last year.
I want to read the CW pieces, but also not.
Wouldn’t you be able to look into them and make a book of these short stories. It would be a masterpiece.
    I’d buy immediately

    1. I had no idea for the title, but I wanted it to reflect the slow, easy, soothing nature of the poem. Glad you liked it.

I read somewhere a while ago that they will not publish your book if it was previously published somewhere else (including online), which is why I don’t post any parts of my novel on here. But I might have to look into that. Or do an ebook…

In this new year, I wish for every aspiring writer to have a supporter like you. You complement, you motivate, you encourage. Your trainer skills are definitely showing.
