HW: #FridayFeeling – Thank God it’s Friday!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

That is how I am feeling today.

Happy that it is Friday.

And you?

Today, I am doing things a little differently.

This week was annoying, so I decided to rebel against it today.

Even though I got up at my usual time, I have decided to go in to work a little later. What is the rush? The world will not stop spinning without me. No, I am not encouraging you to get fired. I am only suggesting to stray from the norm just a little.

“Casual Friday” is something that I do not really understand. If you dress a certain way Monday through Thursday, then there must be a reason for that (impressions on clients, for example). So why does that reason go out the window on Friday? Maybe because Friday is meant to be rebellious?

Unlike other people, I do not find it as freeing to wear jeans and a T-shirt to work on Friday. I can wear those on the weekends. You do not have to show your mercy by allowing me to wear that once a week. But today, I decided to dress half-casually and wear a T-shirt to work.

As you might know, I am not a morning person. However, since I did not have to be out the door only a few minutes after waking up, I decided to write this post. See? This day is already rebellious and insane.

Since I will be getting to work later than usual, I also plan on leaving earlier than usual. Who even really works on Friday afternoons, anyway? If you wait until the last minute on Friday to do any sort of business, then I hope you rethink your ways.

Please?!

Aside from all the rebellious acts that I have just described, I also plan on taking advantage of the Happy Hour and having a drink, or two. The sun is out… (Well, it will be by the time I am after work, at least.) So why not just close our eyes for a moment and enjoy ourselves?

Breathe in the air that keeps us alive.

Feel the sun on your face.

Acknowledge the breeze around your body.

Today, I vow to take it slow.

How are YOU feeling about today?

Any plans?

Stay golden,

  1. I will probably wear jeans, not only because it’s Friday, but also because my main boss is away, yippee! I may also buy a donut! I know, you didn’t think I was capable of this much wildness… just shows to go ya! 😀👍🏻🎉

  2. I like your rebellious streak and your approach to today! It’s great to break up the routine from time to time. It is a lovely day and the sun is shining and everyone (including me!) is ready for the working week to finish and to get away and enjoy the weather whilst it’s here! I hope you do have a very Happy Friday and a wonderful weekend 🙂

  3. Hi Goldie! I never thought about dress down days. I never had a dress code since I was in private elementary school but I know I don’t like them. I like to dress casually. So I’m thankful I don’t have it! 🙂 Happy Friday!

    1. How have you been, Daniela?
It boggles my mind why people sitting in an office all day, only seen by other people sitting in an office all day have to dress a certain way.
But then again, I heard that people can sense it if you’re on the phone with them, but your body is twisted away from the phone. (Of course that applies to landlines more than cell phones.)

              1. I did! The “answers” out there are mere speculations. Jordon Peele, the Director, Writer and Producer isn’t the one postulating these answers.

I hear ya on the sometimes you do and sometimes you don’t. For me, I think I “mostly” like when everything is wrapped up neatly in package with a bow on top and presented as closure in the end, leaving me with no queries and no answers to seek out. Mostly! 🙂

If you do go and see it I would love to hear your perspective.

                  1. Oh, but there are. I saw “Gloria Bell” with Julianne Moore and John Turturro last week and enjoyed it. I’m also looking forward to seeing “Hotel Mumbai” this week….Yeah, I go to the movies every week. It’s kinda my thing. 🙂☺

                  2. Goldie, I’m not sure what your taste in movies are exactly but I’m thinking you might like “Gloria Bell” based on your writing. It’s a movie about life – a middle aged divorcee with adult children trying to find her way in the dating world. It was rather interesting.

                    1. I enjoy comedies, but there have not been many of those in the recent years. Or thrillers.
I’m very anti political agenda pushing in the movies. And it seems like there is an increasing amount of those airing. They ARE popular.

      1. Heh. Glad to allay fears.

Speaking of…how DO you block a blog? I have been digging around in the control panel for such a red button. There is a section in settings that reflects “Blogs you have blocked” like a repository but, I can’t find the actual switch. Does it take two people with matching keys or something?

I haven’t wanted to block any blogs, yet but, it would be handy to know in advance.

        1. Two matching keys. You got me laughing.
I’ve never heard of the “Blogs you have blocked” before. I even went into settings, but couldn’t find it.
As far as I know there is no way. I’ve inquired about blocking someone who spammed me with Likes a year ago. I was told to enjoy it, because it was flattering. And if I’m so ungrateful – to suck it up. (I was told by WP people, so it sounds official.)

Maybe you see that because they are actually working on bringing this feature to us. I know that plenty of people asked to be able to block people. I have to say that I never had the need after that 1 person got a talking to and stopped. I think it would be a useful thing to have, but then again – wouldn’t that contribute to even less free speech? Wouldn’t people be trigger happy?

          1. It is located in the profile section which, I think, is attached to gravatar? Everyone has a site icon and profile icon. This is the only place I have seen it but, it doesn’t appear to be attached to anything:

            1. So I went to the profile, and saw account settings, but didn’t scroll down.
              The ss is very helpful.

              So, the plot thickens.
If you go to your Reader, and click on the three dots next to the Likes/ Comments of someone’s post (without going to the actual post), you get the option of blocking that site. But what does that mean? How is it different from unfollowing?

              1. Those are excellent questions. Unfollow them & you won’t see their posts anymore. Does it work in reverse and block THEM from seeing your site? Possibly but, only inside the Reader. All sites would still be available via search engines.

Judging by the wording on the Profile page, I would guess that, if you block a site and, then, search for terms, if the offending site had those same terms, the results would not return that site to you. But, does that work in your favor in reverse? Does your site become invisible to the offending site if they do keyword searches? 🤔

          2. Maybe it’s a product of PHP programming since you can block stuff on FB. IDK. I dug around in the WP help sections and can’t find it there, either.

You have point. If you are being ‘blog-stalked’, it will run up your hit stats. Plus, you can moderate comments and force outsiders to register to be able to comment. Lots of likes don’t hurt, either. You also don’t have to worry about being sent ‘messages’ like FB’s Messenger. WP has no chat features.

              1. Maybe. Maybe not. FB has lots of comments plus chat. The problem would be screening. FB blocks non-friends and, you might get an unwanted message but, you can ignore & delete. There are no ‘friend’ abilities on WP so a chat window might invite unwanted users.

A chat channel might generate revenue for them but, the programming of all that…wow.
