“Look out the window and write a poem about the first thing you notice.”
– a prompt for this week’s CW piece.

These walls are cold
and this job is getting old.
There are plenty of people around,
but I make no sound.
To none of them I can relate;
I guess it’s just my fate.
Through a window I can see
a world that’s meant to be.
As I push the door open,
my chains become broken.
Off for a walk I go,
grateful for no snow.
The concrete makes me feel at home
even though I am completely alone.
I take a deep breath in
and lift up my chin.
Just a few more steps
and it will be as good as it gets.
A bench by the water
from where I can see an otter.
The trees gently sway
in the distance by the quay.
The sun is shining
and I hear no whining.
With nature I feel one
before I notice an hour had gone.
Time to return to the four walls
where people fill the halls
but nobody really lives.

I really like this piece.
‘Time to return to the four walls
where people fill the halls
but nobody really lives.’
That’s a great ending.

I have to say that this didn’t work out as I wanted it to. But I hope that everyone can see their world when they read this and close their eyes.
Thanks for reading and I’d really like it if you shared your take on the prompt.

For sure. I was even looking out my window last night and thought about this very post. Definitely using the prompt.

Quiet, pup!
Daddy’s not up!
It’s barely dawn…
Well hi, little fawn!
… Sorry, that’s all I have time for. (It was pretty adorable, though.)

LOL, I meant the fawn, not the poem.

Sure, but the poem was, too.

Beautiful place, if this is what the photo shows!
An image and a thousand words…
