NROP: Using your body to put out raging fires.

No, the title is not a naughty wordplay. In this case, fire means literal fire and not just the figurative one of passion and desire.

If you live somewhere other than under a rock, you have probably heard about the fires in Australia. The burning flora has consumed a lot of the fauna, leaving us all in disbelief. Seeing photos of charred koalas and videos of them being rescued stir our hearts. We hope and pray that the disaster will stop and that it never happens again.

Some of you might be wondering what you can do to help. It is my recommendation that you abstain from lighting fires and tossing cigarette buds onto the ground that can catch on fire.

“But, Goldie, I am not a pyromaniac and I do not smoke” – I hear some of you say.

OK, let us see what else you can do to help… How about volunteering your time to nurse the animals back to help at zoos and rehabs?

“But, Goldie, I do not live anywhere near those affected places. I live overseas” – you say.

I am glad you came to me then. There is something else you can do. Donate money to rescue efforts.

“But, Goldie, I have to pay my electric bill so I do not freeze to death” – you reply.

“But, Goldie, I already spent all my pocket money for this month” – some of you might be thinking.

Do not worry. Money is not everything. If you cannot turn back time, if you cannot assist in person, if you cannot donate money, you can always sell your body.

“What?” – I hear you ask, choking on tea.

You heard me right.

Whenever we are asked to help, our thoughts go straight to money. It seems to be the easiest of options. Just throw your money at a problem and then you can forget all about it. But as someone who is not insanely rich, I can understand that donating money does not always seem possible. Yes, sometimes it is just an excuse. We feel like we do not have too much, so we hold onto it tightly. Maybe sometimes we feel embarrassed to donate less than what we think is appropriate, so we donate nothing at all.

Whenever people figure out how to help others while helping themselves, I applaud them for their creative thinking and wonder why I have not thought of something similar.

“But, Goldie, would you really sell nudes?” – you ask.

Oh, yea, that is right. Sometimes I prefer to leave the out-of-the-box thinking to others, after all.

Instagram has become a great resource for aspiring models/celebrities. We all know that to become famous, one has to post selfies on Insta at least a couple of times a day. Everything has to align – you have to have a nice body (or a powerful story), and a lot of followers. Then, you just cross your fingers and hope that someone will “discover” you and put you on the fast track to fame.

We live during a time when women fight against objectification of females. They do not want men to look at them and think naughty thoughts. They want to be seen as equals. (Is that trying to turn men gay?) As human beings with brains and not just objects used for sex.

Or so we are told…

Until you get women selling nudes to strangers on the Internet to raise money for the Australian fires.

Yes, I heard you gasp.

Kaylen Ward, who calls herself The Naked Philanthropist, is a 20-year-old, who earlier this month announced that she would send nude photos of her to anyone who donated $10 or more to one of the organizations she listed. Since then, she is said to have raised $1,000,000 for the Australian fires. She hired people to research reliable organizations for those donations, and to verify that those who claimed they donated actually did.

She is surprised that her mother does not support her efforts and the guy she was “talking to” is not talking to her anymore, but she is proud of herself for helping “so many people”. She has since announced a new campaign. This time around she will be selling nudes for donations to Puerto Rico after the recent earthquakes.

If you are being strategic about this, you will not donate more than $10 at a time. That means that about 100,000 people donated to an organization helping Australia recover because of Kaylen. It makes me wonder how many nudes she has/takes. Or does she just have one and sends everyone the same copy? (Feel free to email me privately if you know the answer to this question.) Needless to say, her nude photos were leaked all over Internet.

Kaylen said that “Not all heroes wear capes.” Apparently, they can also wear nothing at all. Last year, another Instagram “influencer” posted a censored photo of herself, asking people to donate money towards saving the Amazonian jungle. The description includes the hashtag #pussypower. “Grab your wallets, unlock your sons and grab theirs too” – Khate Rad added. So who is fueling the objectification now? Who is pushing men to be lustful? No, definitely not women.

Yet another Instagram celebrity, Tammy Hembrow, was forced to delete her photo and deactivate her account after receiving criticism for her fundraising campaign. The photo showed her wearing bikini bottoms and a wet crop top. Tammy said that all the proceeds from her clothes collection will go towards Australian fires relief. She has since reinstated her account. I imagine having more than 10 million followers is not something she wanted to lose forever.
